New Oasis 3 Improves Remote Workflow Editing and Station-to-Station Content Sharing with Upgraded Navigation, Rights Management and Browser-based Functionality

NEWPORT BEACH, CA – March 30, 2010 – Bitcentral, dedicated to open news delivery, is helping broadcasters maximize the value of their news assets with the introduction of Oasis 3, the newest evolution of their popular Oasis™ news archiving and collaboration software platform. Oasis 3 consolidates archived video assets of individual stations into a virtual group newsroom, accessible from anywhere. Now local reporters and editors can quickly pull raw or finished video from a vast media archive and, at their desk or in the field, they can edit, reuse and dynamically direct their reports to appear across any multimedia platform.

Oasis 3 features enhanced Remote Contribution, packaging video with complete metadata attached and, for the first time, comprehensive rights management. Oasis 3 delivers online content management functionality and accessibility to any PCs and laptops in the newsroom or field. Bitcentral will be demonstrating Oasis 3 at the NAB Show in Las Vegas from April 12-15 at their booth #SU2312.

“The collaboration Bitcentral delivers also fuels our innovation, and there’s no clearer example of this than Oasis 3. The features we added directly reflect the feedback of our customers and in turn, the direction of the industry. When resources are scarce, savvy station groups find new ways to fully leverage the value of their assets across broadcast properties to improve market efficiency and success. Judging by the performance of Oasis users, we’re helping them do exactly that,” said Bitcentral’s CEO, Fred Fourcher.

Sporting an upgraded user interface, Oasis 3 also improves upon previous iterations by refining and customizing search functions, making it easier to locate relevant video material across all connected archives in a station group. News editors no longer have to rely on guesswork to match past stories with their original newsroom archive because one simple search command will turn around results from the entire group of networked stations. Coupled with updated categorization features, editors are ensured that requested content meets outlined search criteria, making collaboration across broadcast partners easy and convenient.

Oasis 3 is backwards compatible with previous Oasis versions so current customers can easily upgrade for even more simplified, unconditional collaboration within newsgroups.

Producing original TV news content for local market broadcasting is very expensive, especially in today’s ad market. Bitcentral’s Oasis is the premier solution for maximizing broadcasters’ return on this investment by extending the life and value of video news assets across partners within a station group. Enabling newsrooms to share original content over a virtual IP-based network yields fuller rundowns and more informative, higher quality newscasts with broader audience appeal.
